I Swoon over Kwoon

I have recently found a new blog, Lisa Evans, that is so wonderful. I've been enjoying the video posts lately and this one just hit the spot and is absolutely beautiful. I must share!

Kwoon is a band and this is video clip from one of their songs - definitely watch it. The story of a father, teaching his son the art of dreaming, to escape the cruel world he's living in. A Yannick Puig Animation.

Gimme Candy

A few more illustrations I did with the Wacom tablet, though for some of it I went back to the mouse. I just move faster with the mouse, but I like the free styling of the pen.

Those teeth look like they could do some real damage to that candy!

Hmm, wonder what was on my mind? I'm such a candy junky at times. I liked the lettering and thought these both were kind of fun.

Pretty in Pink

I played on my Wacom tonight. I didn't have much more than test strokes and trying out brushes to show. But I did get this pretty in pink girl and type to look good.

Illustration Friday - Routine

My new routine for the last 2 and half months is riding my bike to work and back. I love it. I have missed riding bikes around town, I don't even remember why I stopped. But I am back to it and really enjoying it.

I did this illustration a month ago and thought it fit perfectly for this week's theme. I added the sleeping dachshund (one of my favorite types of dogs) and some texture.

Tulip Peep

I decided to flip through my sketchbook today and see if something popped out at me to scan or draw digitally. Sure enough this little tulip inspired character caught my eye.

The Big and Little

We went out for a hike at a local park, it was a wonderful day.

I thought this tree was really cool, it looks like it has furry arms growing out of it that don't quite match the trunk. They were reaching out for me!

I love leaning on a tree, looking up and taking a photo - this turned out much better than I thought.

What can I say, I love moss on sleeping logs and the dark and light contrasts (in the corners) add to this photo.

This red berry jumped out at me while I was walking down the trail, just asking me to take a picture of it.

I found this sweet heart-shaped treasure on the trail.

Aah, relief

After a week of VERY (ick!) hot weather it has all settled down again. Over the weekend it want from blistering hot Saturday to a night of lightning and thunder, then waking up to a nice cool, semi-overcast Sunday. Sunday night we had heavy rains and woke up to a cool, fresh and moist little town. Aaaah, sweet relief.

Super Saturday

What a great Saturday I had. We rode our bikes across town to see The Incredible Hulk (I'm a junkie for Marvel or DC comics/movies) at the $1.50 movie theater today. The ride is 17 miles round-trip.

I must say it was very entertaining and seemed to be much better than the previous. I didn't see the first one because, well, it looked pretty awful, and then I heard it was awful, so never bothered.

My bike. I've added a few gadgets recently and it is styling - by the way, I am fighting the urge to call my bike a "her", as I do not want anyone reading this to think I'm a nut! (but it is a she, ha!) I got that nice cushy seat, the back rack to strap my bag to, oh and a little mirror on my helmet. I am still getting used to using it, it can be a little disorienting at first, and I also worry that I will wreck trying to figure out exactly what is behind me.

On the way back home, we stopped at the Saturday Market, it was way packed and we didn't stay long (no pictures). I prefer the lighter crowds on the week days, that are set aside for just farmer vending. We also swung by this community garden just to drool at all the wonderful veggies people are growing.

I was digging through my iPhoto and looking at images I haven't posted because I didn't think they were good enough. I decided I would play around with a few that weren't quite making the cut. After some cropping and a little color correction it turned out to be a nice photograph after all.

Life has been a little busy for me lately. But I don't want to get too busy and not illustrate or draw in the evenings. So I whipped up this little girl and think she will become a stamp - or at least I will attempt to make her into a stamp, after some simplifying.
