A Book of Image Awesomeness!

I've been buying lots of new books lately. I LOVE receiving books in the mail. Most of them have been educational reads, but this week the new Print and Pattern book arrived and is one of my favorites. This book is packed with inspirational images of awesomeness! Delicious eye candy!

This awesome collection all started with Bowie Style's - Print and Pattern blog. I'm sure most of you know of this site. But if you don't, and love surface design or just like looking at wonderful artist's work this is the blog to bookmark.

I'm resisting the desire to add it to my bag every day when I go to my day job. I tend to over stuff my bag with books, notebooks, magazines, you name it. For now it is sitting right next my desk at home. :)

Better Basics for the Home

The Green Kitchen Handbook

These two books are going to be very helpful with being more green in our household and in our way of living. We are pretty environmentally conscious people, but I would like to keep learning ways to make a difference for the earth, as well as minimizing toxins from our life. The Better Basics for the Home book has been mentioned on several blogs that I read - this The Small Object post and Chickpea Sewing Studio post - so I'm excited about this one. I'm sure I will share what I make from the recipes.

I Can Fly

I got this sweet children's book for some inspiration and the story is so sweet. Mary Blair did the illustrations - her work is amazing.

Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day

This is a pretty easy one to figure out... I love artisan bread and would love to make it at home more often.

New Baking Book

I got this book, King Arthur Flour Whole Grain Baking, earlier this week and we got to try the first recipe today. Yum!

I worked late tonight and then came home and read my book, Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb, the first book of a series I will continue to read. The Born Queen – last book of The Briar King series – arrived today and I am just thrilled to bits! I've been anxiously awaiting its release since I finished the last. It will be a bittersweet when I read the last sentence. When I really enjoy a book I always race to the end but can feel myself trying to slow myself down so it isn't over so quickly, rather similar to the way I eat a peanut butter cup (yum!). So, yes, I am a sci-fi/fantasy book reader - never used to be until a friend gave me The Briar King book - then I was hooked. Salix Tree suggested Robin Hobb's books and I am so glad she did.

Okay enough gushing about my love of books, shutting up and back to reading before sleepy time.

On Every Villain's Nightstand

I have been meaning to post about this book. For Valentine's Day I bought this book for Chris, due to the hilarious cover/topic and then fell more in love when I saw the wonderful illustrations carried throughout the book. James Dignan illustrated the book, isn't it great? The site seems to be under construction, but there are some links to show more of his stuff.

Due for a cleaning

A short post tonight. Today wasn't very exciting, mostly a day of cleaning and organizing my studio, which sort of spread out to me cleaning the dining room as well. I finally got around to filing all the receipts and bill statements (yawn) that neither of us likes to do, but it needed to be done. Once I got rolling on it I had know problem plowing through it - the double shot mocha probably helped fuel that fire. ;) But how boring is that to photo and show here. So instead I will show the new book I am starting to read. I think it will be an interesting read.

Craft Inc.

Another book that I recently picked up and am enjoying immensely - Craft Inc. I saw it on Print+Pattern and immediately knew it was something I should be reading. It's very motivating and informative on what it takes to make a business creating things you love to do. I got a nice bundle of books today. Just in time for the long weekend. I am so excited to look through all of these. I have been spending so much time working on the computer lately that it will be nice to get on some sewing projects.
