Illustration Friday - Camouflage

This week's topic was a bit harder for me. I was trying to think of animals that I could use as the main subject, but I kept coming back to the idea of hiding and not being seen as a little girl. I remember when I was a kid (and even sometimes now as an adult) I felt like if I was at least covered by my favorite blanket (aka Wubby or Wubus) I was untouchable and as good as invisible. Nothing could penetrate the good ole Wubby. Though it was very important to have all limbs under Wubby, or you were a sure goner! :)

Anyways, this is my version of the topic. Thanks for taking a peek.

Fabric Shelf - yaya!

Chris made this wonderful shelving case for me to put all my fabrics out on display. I have seen many crafters with shelves loaded up with colorful fabrics and I immediately talked with Chris about building one for me. He started working on plans to make it, he did a great job and learned a lot from the project. It's so great to be able to ask for something and have it custom handmade for you. Thanks again, Chris :)

Now I need to do a bit more shopping to fill it up! I just LOVE seeing the fabric displayed like this. Inspiring!

Illustration Friday - Rejection

The Pacific Northwest Snubbler bird is best known for its incessant method of shunning and out right rejection of other Snubbler birds if they aren’t the same height, color or size. The forest will echo with chirps that sound a lot like “hmph!” or “phfff!”. Luckily, to maintain their existence, every Snubbler bird does have a mate that will be an exact reflection of itself. Once they find this mate they will only shun other Snubbler birds when feeling bored or lonely.

Illustration Friday - Suit

Hoot Suit definition: A cousin garment to the infamous Zoot suit. It removes all glitz and flash and maintains a classic, subdued elegance that only a very sophisticated creature can pull off. Mostly worn by owls of varying size (can be custom fitted) and color. While some might find it a bit boxy on the body, the owl likes the way it flatters their form and can be found checking themselves out in the reflections of rivers or ponds.

I had a lot of fun with this one. I wanted to say thanks to all that have given such kind comments to my last few illustrations - I really appreciate it and I am so glad I finally started posting.

Thanks again,

Kelly

Bunny - Mini

Cute bunny I made this weekend. This was a good practice for hand stitching using embroidery thread with felt. I haven't done too much of that and I really enjoy hand stitching all around. I think I might put a magnet in between the body felt pieces so that it could be a fridge magnet.
